Since 1988, previous CEO Brenda Handley infused the organization
with a strong commitment to perform at the highest level, care for one
another, and give back to those in need. ABODA and its
employees are committed to serving the community and making a difference
through service projects and charitable contributions.
For example,
employees dedicate a Saturday each year to painting the interior and
exterior of a home that will be used by a homeless family trying to
get back on its feet. The activity benefits the non-profit organization
called The Way Back Inn. ABODA Corporate Housing also provides interim housing
to Way Back Inn families as they save for first and last month's rent
and the necessary deposits required when moving into permanent housing.
ABODA Corporate Housing also donates a number of suites to families caring for loved
ones receiving medical treatment at Puget Sound area hospitals.
In 2001,
ABODA, then known as Northwest Suites Inc., co-sponsored the first-ever Benaroya Research
Institute (BRI) Seafair Triathlon. Pledges were channeled to support
continued research for the causes and cures of autoimmune diseases including,
diabetes, arthritis and cancer.
These are
just a few of the many expressions of caring that the employees of ABODA extend to the community throughout the year. To follow is
a partial list of the many organizations that benefit from our charitable
efforts.
