
NORTHWEST SUITES INC. PRESIDENT AND CEO BRENDA L. HANDLEY ACCEPTS BOARD
POSITION WITH BENAROYA RESEARCH INSTITUTE AT VIRGINIA MASON

Suites Inc. President and CEO Brenda L. Handley has been named to the Board of
Directors of the Benaroya Research Institute (BRI) at Virginia Mason, Dr. Gerald
T. Nepom, MD, PhD, director of BRI at Virginia Mason, announced today.
In this role, Handley will participate in fundraising events, recruit high level sponsors, and serve as an ambassador for the role the BRI is playing to improve the quality of life for people suffering from diabetes and other auto-immune diseases.
Handley wants to empower people with information to help them live their best life, and she also wants to shine a light on the important research that is being done in search for cures at this premier research facility.
"I am thrilled to be associated with the brilliance within the structure of Benaroya Research Institute and am eager to serve as a board member with those who share the same values in life as I do," Handley said. Last year, Northwest Suites served as a co-sponsor for the first annual Seafair Triathlon to benefit the BRI. This event raised $25,000 and also earned BRI and Northwest Suites Inc. a King County Event Producer's Award (KEPA), Sponsor of the Year, for outstanding performance in the event community.
Handley is eager to accomplish even more as a result of her new appointment to the BRI board. As her involvement and contribution to BRI's grows, Handley will rely upon her senior team to take on a number of her duties at Northwest Suites. She intends to roll up her sleeves and make a meaningful difference to BRI through her active, hands-on involvement with the organization.
